- Yes, definition wise, only those that were grown in Yunnan Province of China can be labeled as pu-erh, but there are tea trees with excellent terroir in regions of Burma that are adjacent to Yunnan (on the border). These are produced out of especially thick and well grown old tea trees largely in Burma, which is located on the border of Xixuangbanna, Yunnan.
